KASKADA

When Tomaž R. came across this juniper he immediately knows that he wants a tree in the cascade style. He brings it in to TORA atelier and the work started. We cleaned it and cut all unnecessary branches. Then we stopped. This was done in December 2014.

Očistili smo ga in porezali vse odvečne veje.

Juniper after cleaning, December 2014

After 8 months of good care the tree was prepared for first serious step. We, together with TORA apprentice Gašper, analyzed the tree and started working. As always Gašper did a major work with wiring and he also tried to style the tree.

I did just a minor adjustment and the first step is done: great tree in cascade style with a great future. This is only first styling, there is still a lot work to do, but we'll deal with this in the future. Now the tree must rest. If the juniper will react well, then we'll continue with the next step in spring next year.

Opravil sem le manjše popravke in prvi korak je končan: odlično drevo v kaskadnem slogu z obetajočo prihodnostjo. Če bo brin reagiral dobro, bomo z naslednjim korakom nadaljevali spomladi prihodnje leto.

POZABLJENI

I can't understand such attitude, but it is true: in my garden one can find forgotten trees. Customers bring them to atelier for refinement, for vacation or for any other reasons - and then never come back. Trees live in my garden for one, two, even more years, waiting for their owners. But they don't appear. What to do with such trees? Are they mine after two years of care and work, or they still belong to former owners even they don't find time to come and pick them up?
This small commercial juniper is one of them. More then two years after it's owner left it in my garden I decided to style it and put it on sale. Gašper, TORA international school apprentice, did great job!

The result is tender, neat tree; now it also needs a new pot. If the owner does not appear in the next week or two, the tree will be available.

TROJNI

This big pine (Pinus sylvestris) was collected in local hills in spring 2008. After five years in plastic container and after no one was interested to buy it, I decided to style it by myself. First rough styling was done in October 2013. As always at such material the main problem were leggy branches, but the bark is fantastic. There are also many other interesting details.

Great bark with many details

Sign of health

This spring the tree was re-potted in to first bonsai pot. I was struggling to find such a big pot, but I was lucky to found it at Rajko's place. It is Chinese red-clay pot, nothing special, but for now it is OK.

To pomlad je bilo drevo presajeno v prvo bonsajsko posodo.

Pine in first bonsai pot, before styling, August 2015

August is right time to work on Pines. Gašper, TORA bonsai school apprentice, worked hard on this one. We cut the old wire and We also cut all old needles to balance the growth and started to wire again.

Porezala sva staro žico in vse stare iglice, da sva uravnotežila energijo. Potem sva se lotila novega žičenja.

Gašper started to work imidiatly

And he worked a lot ...

Now the pine is in refinement state. Some years of work on details and I'll be happy with outcome. I am not planning to exhibit this tree because is too big. But it will be a nice piece for my garden ...
